Overview The Town of Mendon is a high-income suburb, boasting 40 square miles of pristine horse farms, lovely country homes on tree-lined streets, and quaint villages. Most children here learn to ride horses and to appreciate the beauty of their surroundings. The region contains several charming locations including the village of Honeoye Falls, and the hamlets of Mendon and Mendon Center. Rolling hills, lush greenery and open views that stretch for miles characterize the region. Good to Know Mendon Fire Department is on call, and Honeoye Falls-Mendon Volunteer Ambulance also serves the area. Police needs are met by the Monroe County Sheriff's Department. The Mendon Public Library, which will soon go through a massive rebuilding, is located at 22 North Main Street in Honeoye Falls. (585) 624-6067. Local Museums & Landmarks There is an historic marker on Plains Road that reads "Totiakton." It designates the site where the French claimed victory over the Senecas and claimed the country for Louis XIV in 1687.

Parks Mendon Ponds Park, at 95 Douglas Rd. in Honeoye Falls, is a National Natural Landmark. The 2,500-acre park with woodland, ponds, and wetlands, offers several lodges, a youth camping area, recreational sites, and Wild Wings, Inc. - a not-for-profit educational organization for injured birds of prey. Annual Events The Mendon Firemen's Carnival at the end of May/early June, provides a BBQ, parades, live music, and hot air balloon rides; Mendon Station Festival in September features arts and crafts, reenactments and more; and the Mendon Ponds Winterfest in January features skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, and festival foods.
