Overview Eaton is a town in south-central Madison County, bordered to the north by Smithfield and Stockbridge, to the east by Madison, to the south by Lebanon and to the west by Nelson. Eaton includes the village of Morrisville, which is home to the State University of New York at Morrisville, along with several hamlets. Morrisville State, as it’s called here, has an equine center and a fish hatchery among its attractions. The geographic center of New York State is in the northwest corner of Eaton, which besides, the college, is mainly a rural community. Colgate University is only 8 miles southeast of Morrisville. Local Museums & Landmarks The First National Bank of Morrisville, Morrisville Public Library and the Old Madison County Courthouse all are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Morrisville State College has a Wildlife Museum and other attractions.

Oneida, about 18 miles north, also has a movie-theater complex. Both Morrisville State and Colgate University host sporting events, concerts and other events. Cazenovia, popular with summertime visitors, has a wide range of things to do, including the Catherine Cummings Theatre for plays and musicals and the Nelson Odeon, a small performance center that features national acts. Cazenovia College offers various entertainment options throughout the year.
