OverviewGeorgetown is a town on the southern edge of Madison County, bordered to the north by Nelson, to the east by Lebanon, to the south by Chenango County (town of Otselic) and to the west by DeRuyter. With just under 1,000 residents, Georgetown is the least-populated town in Madison County. The town has a hamlet, also called Georgetown, which is at the junction of Routes 26, 64 and 80. Like many of the towns on the county’s southern tier, Georgetown is highly rural, with plenty of wide-open space where outdoor activity is the main attraction. Several state forests are around here. Neighboring Cazenovia has more places to see and things to do and is about 16 miles northwest of Georgetown. Syracuse is about 30 miles northwest.
Local Museums & Landmarks The Spirit House, which was constructed as a residence and meeting hall for Spiritualists, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
