The town is mainly rural, with several dairy farms with a “peaceful, rural setting” that attracts people who want to get away from busier cities and suburban areas. Lincoln has two parks and the Callanan Quarry, which has been in operation for more than a century.
Local Museums & Landmarks
The Lincoln Town Hall is located in the former Lenox District No. 4 Schoolhouse, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Nearby communities have more museums and historic sites; for instance, Canastota, only 4 miles north, is the home of the international Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum and a number of sites on the National Register of Historic Places. Oneida, only 7 miles northeast, has entire historic districts and the Oneida Community Mansion House (a living museum on the site of a once-thriving utopian community). Chittenango (about 9 miles west) has several attractions tied to the “Wizard of Oz,” as its author, L. Frank Baum, is from there.
