Overview

Lincoln is a small town in north-central Madison County, bordered to the north by Lenox, to the east by the city of Oneida and the town of Stockbridge, to the south by Smithfield and Fenner and to the west by Sullivan. Lincoln has about 2,000 residents and two hamlets but no village.


Essentials

For grocery shopping, the closest Tops Friendly Markets store is in Canastota. The closest Wegmans supermarket is in Fayetteville, Onondaga County, about 16 miles west of Lincoln. Oneida has a Walmart Supercenter on Genesee Street. Most other major retail shopping around here is in the Syracuse area, including stores like Target and Walmart and several malls.



Recreation & Entertainment

Lincoln is known mostly for its wide-open spaces, which are popular for hunting, hiking, fishing and snowmobiling. Nearby communities offer more attractions. Turning Stone Casino (which offers concerts and other live entertainment, as well as gambling) is only 11 miles northeast.



Transportation & Traffic

Route 25 runs north-south through the town. Route 54 is another north-south highway on the eastern side of Lincoln. Route 5 is a well-traveled road that heads east-west.



Pros & Cons

Lincoln is a quieter, more laid-back community compared to some of its neighbors. There are still plenty of things to do and see that are just a quick drive from here.
