Eaton. The town of Madison includes a village also named Madison as well as several hamlets. Two casinos are within minutes of Madison – Vernon Downs in Vernon, which also has a horse-racing track, and the bigger, busier Turning Stone in Verona, which has showrooms that attract national musical acts and comedians. Colgate University is just south, in Hamilton, and Morrisville State College is just west of town. Madison is a largely rural community with lots of wide-open spaces. A large antique show is held every summer in the village.

The Madison Wind Farm, consisting of seven wind turbines, is in town. Morrisville State College is in the town of Eaton, 8 miles west. Colgate University has several sites worth seeing. Turning Stone Casino and Resort is 20 miles north. Vernon Downs Casino and Hotel is about 13 miles north of Madison. Oneida, about 19 miles northwest, has many historic sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
