Overview

Lodi is a town in the southwest corner of Seneca County, bordered to the north by Ovid, to the east by Covert, to the south by Schuyler County (town of Hector) and to the west by Seneca Lake (and beyond that, the town of Milo, Yates County). The town of Lodi has a village also named Lodi, along with a few hamlets. Lodi Point State Park is in the western part of town, and part of the Finger Lakes National Forest is in Lodi.


Essentials

The village of Lodi has a small business district that includes stores like Dollar General. Nearby in neighboring Ovid you’ll find a Big M supermarket, an auto parts store and other small retail operations. For a greater variety of shopping, you’ll have to take a short ride. For groceries, the closest Wegmans supermarkets are in Ithaca (about 23 miles southeast) and in Geneva, Ontario County (about 25 miles northwest). The closest Tops Friendly Markets store is in Waterloo, about 22 miles north of Lodi. Waterloo also has a Walmart Supercenter and the Premium Outlets Mall, which draws shoppers from all over to its factory outlet stores.



Recreation & Entertainment

Like most towns in Seneca County, the big attractions in Lodi are of the outdoor variety. Seneca Lake, on the western shore of Lodi, and Cayuga Lake, a bit further east, are two of the larger Finger Lakes. Boating, fishing and camping are the big draws here. Wine enthusiasts will enjoy the numerous vineyards and wineries in the town and surrounding area.



Transportation & Traffic

Route 96A and Route 414 converge in the village of Lodi. As with many of the towns around here, having a boat is a good way to get around.



Pros & Cons

The main attraction here is Seneca Lake and the great outdoors. Boating, fishing and camping are the most popular activities. More outdoor options include the Finger Lakes National Forest, Lodi Point State Park and nearby Sampson State Park. A quick drive gets you to spectacular Watkins Glen State Park and the cozy town of Watkins Glen; Ithaca, a bustling college town, also is nearby.
