Overview Lodi is a town in the southwest corner of Seneca County, bordered to the north by Ovid, to the east by Covert, to the south by Schuyler County (town of Hector) and to the west by Seneca Lake (and beyond that, the town of Milo, Yates County). The town of Lodi has a village also named Lodi, along with a few hamlets. Lodi Point State Park is in the western part of town, and part of the Finger Lakes National Forest is in Lodi. Like many towns in this Finger Lakes region, Lodi has several wineries and vineyards. You’re close to the spectacular Watkins Glen State Park and its breathtaking gorge trails, and not far from Ithaca, a bustling college town. Lodi Point was a popular stop for lake steamboats in the 19th century. Local Museums/Landmarks The Lodi Historical Society is based in the Lodi Historical Building, which has an historic organ and grand piano used for performing arts events. Queen’s Castle, the remnant of a rustic, lakeside camp, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. So is the Lodi Methodist Church, which was built by noted church architect Warren H. Hayes.

Essentials The village of Lodi has a small business district that includes stores like Dollar General. Nearby in neighboring Ovid you’ll find a Big M supermarket, an auto parts store and other small retail operations. For a greater variety of shopping, you’ll have to take a short ride. For groceries, the closest Wegmans supermarkets are in Ithaca (about 23 miles southeast) and in Geneva, Ontario County (about 25 miles northwest). The closest Tops Friendly Markets store is in Waterloo, about 22 miles north of Lodi. Waterloo also has a Walmart Supercenter and the Premium Outlets Mall, which draws shoppers from all over to its factory outlet stores. Ithaca has a vibrant business scene and lots of things to do. Students in Lodi attend the South Seneca Central School District, which has one each elementary-, middle- and high school. The closest hospital is Geneva General in Ontario County. Lodi Whittier Library is on East Seneca Street, near the intersection of Routes 96A and 414.

Wine enthusiasts will enjoy the numerous vineyards and wineries in the town and surrounding area. A bluegrass festival called “Pickin’ in the Pasture” is held annually. Finger Lakes National Forest is a great place to get outdoors to hike and enjoy nature. Lodi Point State Park is mainly a boat launch and picnic area. Sampson State Park in nearby Romulus provides more activities. Watkins Glen, known for auto racing and an outstanding state park, is only 18 miles southwest. Geneva and Ithaca, both short drives from Lodi, have lot of things to do and see and places to eat and shop.
